Providing Access to Robotics

Preparing Students for the future

Making robots is fun…designing and building for a competition is awesome! It takes a lot of work and dedication to do good in a competition in addition to the skills required to design, code, build, and present your robot. BSMS Robotics participates in FIRST Robotics program and competition. Usually participating in FLL (FIRST Lego League), new this year will be the start of a FTC (FIRST TECH Challenge) team.

There are few options for robotics teams in the area and they can be very competitive when it comes to selecting members and often leave many aspiring roboteers without a team. BSMS Robotics strives to bring any interested student at Brown Summit Middle School onto a team to grow and experience the FIRST robotics world.

The mission of the BSMS Robotics team is to create an engineering foundation in aspiring students and teach them skills in design, coding, manufacturing, and improve soft skills like team work and presenting. The goal of BSMS Robotics to create confident and capable roboteers that will leave BSMS and go on to even more competitive high school teams as contributing members. The BSMS FTC team will be benefiting from working with local high school teams from ECG Robotics. This student to student collaboration will foster idea generation and help with “ways of working” to guide the rookie team.

FTC introduces a volunteering element within the competition. This year BSMS Robotics students will be coming up with unique community service projects as part of mission objective for the year.
